Kurdistan on map draws Turkish ire

A few mornings ago, a US TV programme ‘Today Show’ was airing a story about three US hikers in Iran.  Reporter Andrea Mitchell said they were detained  ‘when they wandered too close to the border between Iran and Kurdistan.’  On screen (left) was a map labelled Iran and Kurdistan.

Speaking at a press conference, CHP (Republican People’s Party) Deputy Director, Ensar Öğüt asked why no one is reacting to ‘labelling part of Turkey as Kurdistan.’  He said, ‘The TV station in question does not even say sorry, it does not say it made a mistake.’

Öğüt also  said of the Turkish foreign minister Davutoğlu, ‘He makes no explanation. Foreign Minister, are you good for anything? Are you a Turk? Are you the foreign minister of Turkey?’

Well, Mr Öğüt, I agree.  NBC did make a mistake.  They didn’t draw the border in the right place.  It should have been somewhat to the east to show the true border between Iran and Kurdistan!

Here’s the 44-second YouTube clip from the NBC TV interview:

  1. Turkey always deny that there is a Kurdistan. Simply becuase they are the terrorist and not the Kurds like they say.

  2. Turky needs to wake up and realize that us kurds will never give up and we will fight till the last of us standing. turks need to stop terrorizing and grow the F@#k up. Long live Kurdistan and long live the kurdish people all around the world.

  3. its funny to watch turks deny the exsistance of kurdistan and the kurdish people, all they are doing is make a totall ass out of them selves, because everyone knows the kurds are a culture and nation of peace and grace whome are fighting for there independence. but its really unfortunate that we are located between 4 terrorizing and idiotic nations Turky, iran, Syria, and Iraq. those Mangolians aka “Turks” have terrorized not only the kurds but have slaughtered Armanians, Albaneans, greeks and the list goes on. this is not something the turks should be proud of but its the truth that they should be a shamed of.

LONG LIVE THE KURDS AND FOREVER LIVE KURDISTAN.

  4. I think that the Turkish goverment can not stand the fact that we as Kurds will not stop until we win what is ours, and no matter what they do or say they cant stop our voice…

    Bejid Kurd U Kurdistan

  5. no doubt that day will come when 4parts of kurdistan will be librated and united.

  6. It is nice of NBC to put the word Kurdistan on the map, we hope for other international Channel to do the same and make the map more clear for world since many do not have idea about Kurdistan map….It is better for Turkey and other countries to confess about Kurdistan and allow Kurdish to practice thier rights and freedom….. we ( kurdish) are optimistic that the Kurdistan map will soon be labelled officially in other countries as we see in Iraq.

  7. In a situation like this, Turkish leaders are proving themsleves to be very uneducated people and very closed minded as usual. Turkey should know no nation have ever vanished, so neither will we.

  8. Kurdistan is on the map and there’s nothing the Turks who came from Asia searching for food can deny the rights of the native people of the land.

Many people ask why the Kurds are oppressed on their own land; because of the inhumane treatment of the Turks.

Shame on you Turkey for killing 1.5 million Armenians and hundreds of thousands of Kurds.

  9. What is shown is a fact, it is the Kurdish land no matter what the chauvinist Turks, Arabs and Pharisees say. It is time for them to wake up and understand that the world is changed. The mentality of Sultans, Khalif and emperors, of people mass murder, torturing, imprisoning, ethnic cleansing, human rights denial, ….etc. Is against the values of the new world of the freedom and human rights.

  10. What I saw is a fact, it is the Kurdish land no matter what the chauvinist Turks, Arabs and Pharisees say. It is time for them to wake up and understand that the world is changed. Thanks to NBC .

  11. Thank you NBC for recognizing Kurdistan on the map, thanks for recognizing what is really there, which is all four parts of Kurdistan Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Syria.
