Just one week after thousands protested marking the 10th anniversary of Abdullah Ocalan’s capture, Turkish PM Erdoğan will visit Amed (Diyarbakir) as part of his campaign for the upcoming elections at the end of March. Last weekend protestors stoned the AKP headquarters in the city and were countered with tear gas and water cannons.
Now Erdoğan will make an appearance at a party election planning meeting there tomorrow. What is different this time is that TRT6 will be broadcasting the event live. And with simultaneous Kurdish translations. This live broadcast will be a first for the new station.
As was feared AKP is using TRT6 to push its own political agenda in the region. Polls show that AKP and the DTP are in a tight race in Amed and many cities in the area.
